Business computing is the application of different technologies to business information needs. It is a hybrid between the fields of business and computer science and may include some aspects advanced computing. Graduates can find jobs in the world of business, working on technical and computing matters or in the IT field.

The course is heavily grounded in the real world and includes guest lecturers from business and engineering partners sharing their knowledge of actual business issues. You will also have the chance to work on live briefs that put your technical skills to real-world issues. You will learn a broad range of business and IT skills over the course of four years starting from the development of software applications to learning how to analyse data with the intention of delivering new solutions to companies.

During your first year, you’ll study topics like marketing and accounting as well as gain hands-on exposure to the most recent IT and computing technologies. You’ll develop your IT and business skills in preparation for your placement year, which can be on campus or at one of the many partner organizations across Kent and London. Upon graduation, you’ll have an unusual mix of IT and business knowledge which can lead to a variety of careers, including web development, software development helpdesk support and data analytics. Graduates have worked for companies such as Accenture, BP, FDM and Spotify.
